My Services
Osteopathy is a science that diagnoses the cause of pain or restricted movement by assessing how the body moves. Osteopathy dates back to the 19th century. It recognises the importance of the link between the structure of the body and the way in which it functions. By assessing the body in both postural and mechanical movements, diagnosis and treatment can be established. This aids the body through a natural and drug free healing process. To maintain health.
As an osteopath I use manipulation, mobilisation, soft tissue and stretching techniques to help the body heal.
Osteopathy became the first complementary healthcare profession to be accorded statutory recognition under the 1993 Osteopath Act. Osteopaths must be registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GoSC).
Naturopathy is a technique that complements osteopathy by assessing lifestyle, including diet and exercise. Different forms of hydrotherapy support the techniques used by the osteopath to assist in the healing process.
Advise to support treatment is also given, especially exercises and diet to help reduce pain, common for back pain and posture changes.

The number of sessions that are needed will depend on many factors including how long you have had the problem, your levels of activity and most importantly the diagnosis of the problem. This will be assessed at your first treatment and then if further treatments are needed will be assessed at each treatment.
I will ask you to undress to as much is needed for me to examine you, if you would prefer to wear loose fitting shorts and t-shirt/vest please feel free.
I offer daytime, evening and weekend appointments. Please get in touch to find out more.
Your first appointment takes longer than follow up appointments.
This initial appointment is to find out more about your reasons for visiting me, with lots of questions and discussion about where you may be in pain or discomfort and for full screening. I will then collect a medical history from you, this is relevant so that I can get a full picture of your current and previous health and how this affects your body and to check that Osteopathic treatment is appropriate.
I will then assess how your body moves and give you my diagnosis and whether treatment is appropriate. Treatment will then commence.
To be comfortable the best clothes to wear are tracksuit bottoms, leggings, sports leggings or shorts. A vest, bra or sports bra is also advised so that I can see how your spine moves.
